About me

Me

Online, I go by Yanis and sometimes Wiggs, depending on who you ask. As of writing of this I am 21 years old, though basically 22.
I like rollerblading, playing piano, reading mostly manga and watching anime, and playing video games.
I practice rollerblading semi-frequently and my fundamentals are solid, although I don't know any cool tricks at the moment. As for the piano, I picked it up, for the first time in ages, earlier this year and have started learning how to play it properly. I've improved a fair bit but I long way to go.
I've dabbled in languages as well, namely French, Turkish, Portuguese and Japanese but I'm only remotely confident in the latter two.

Stuff I'm into

Rollerblading

I was inspired to start rollerblading by jet set radio, Bombrush Cyberfunk and various rollerblading/skating folk on youtube. This definitely would've ended up being a bucketlist item if I hadn't done it sooner and I have absolutely zero regrets on becoming a skater. It's such a freeing form of movement that makes me feel like I'm flying sometimes. I think rollerblading has that perfect balance of stylish and hardcore even if at my current level I am neither of those things lol. Nonetheless I have improved over and whenever I look back at videos of me when I first started I feel incredibly proud of myself.
Right now I wear regular old 4 wheel inlines. They're pretty cheap and I will likely replace them some time but they serve me well. My neighbourhood is kinda hilly and I can't skate anywhere else without having to drive so I tend to just go up down slopes constantly which isn't ideal but it's good exercise and has made me way less afraid of going downhill.

Anime & Manga

Been watching anime since I was a wee lad, one of my earliest memories is watching the cell saga of dbz on a vhs tape. I started reading manga years later when I found old tokyopop volumes of Jing, the king of bandits.

Not anime & manga

Kinda in a weeb phase right now so I admittedly don't watch much outside of anime but I totally for sure will work on broadening my tastes. I am a casual enjoyer of horror stories too but mostly because the audio readings by channels like Dark Somnium help me sleep.
Favourites: Cidade de deus, Swing girls. Breaking bad & Better Call Saul, Lilo and Stitch, Green Book, Flight, Scott Pilgrim, Kill Bill, Borrasca, Penpal
Backlog: Shawshank Redemption, Children of Men, Pan's Labyrinth, The Big Lebowski, The Usual Suspects, Wolf of Wall Street, Linda*3, Dune

Games I don't have the drive to play games like I used to, so I tend to stick to older game I'm already familiar with, shmups and the occasional visual novel. I'm big into 'older' fighting games too but have can't play them as much since my wifi is spotty and there are barely any players in my region.

Currently playing Pokemon Ranger, ACNL
Backlog:Too much stuff to mention
Favourites: Pokemon Sapphire, Ds Pokemon, Mother 3, Cave shmups, MBAACC, BBCF, GGAC+R, Omori, Twilight Princess, Minish Cap, ACNL, Touhou, Mahoyo, Okami, Sonic CD and Mania, Xenoblade, Dark Souls II, Golden age Final Fantasy, Bombrush Cyberfunk, Kingdom Hearts II, 358/2 days, Project Diva/Mirai, Megaman Star Force, Yume nikki & 2kki

Music

I like whatever agrees with my ears and makes them feel nice. I like a lot of music but I suppose my top 3 genres are prolly Bossa Nova, J-pop and classical music. It's a constantly shifting ranking tho and really depends on my mood.

I'm currently learning the piano as well. I've been on and off for years but earlier this year I decided I'm gonna try and actually get better. As it stands, I can play tristesse kinda well, ignoring that one middle part, and I'm dabbling in Gymnopédie no.1.
