Windy Tales

21/03/2026

Another anime I discovered through sakugabooru. Thought the artstyle looked unique so I decided to give it a watch.
I'm writing this a couple hours after watching the last episode and I'm gonna be honest and say that I was disappointed by that episode in particular, specifically that one but I'll get to that later.
Ignoring that underlying feeling tho, Windy Tales was a great watch. Pretty nice slice of life anime involving a world where people can manipulate the wind, though it doesn't seem to be a well known phenomenon within the town the story takes place in.
Characters are solid and the stories told in each episode are mundane yet sincerely heart-warming at times. The episode where Nao's dad gets a motorcycle and the episode where it snows are my favourites. The latter of which has one of my favourite scenes in the show which is as good as it is thanks to the soundtrack by Kenji Kawai.
The music of Windy Tales is my favourite aspect of it if I'm being real. It perfectly compliments the atmosphere and vibe of the show. So incredibly serene and nostalgic sounding. Sits up there with Haibane Renmei's and Samurai Champloo's soundtracks for me.
I'm fond of the artstyle a fair bit but I wouldn't be surprised if someone said they found it off-putting. I personally like it and it's somewhat crooked look just makes it standout to me and I respect the choice to stick with an unconventional style.
Only gripe I have is how all over the place the last episode feels. Resulted in a mildly underwhelming end if i'm being honest but not enough to sully everything before it. Just a tad unsatisfying I suppose.

But yeah, other than that little hiccup, I like this show lots and it is firmly my favourite slice of life anime maybe even over K-ON but I haven't watched that in ages.
Also for what its worth, I watched this one episode a day every morning around 7am and that buffed the nice vibes and stuff I reckon.

I will make this face when i see snow for the first time again in 2052
