Swing Girls

So as I am writing I just finished watching this film and I wanna say that it was really really good.
I wouldn't say it was groundbreaking or anything but for me personally, it just hit all the right notes.
To put it shortly, the movie's about a bunch of delinquent girls looking to skip remedial classes and do so by joining the school band after accidentally getting all but one of the members sick due to delivering the lunch late to one of their performances.
I enjoyed seeing them go from being half hearted about it to genuinely enjoying playing their instruments and gradually getting better.
I like the scene where we see Nakamura teach them all breathing exercises. As a person who has only played piano, the thought of breathing exercises of course never occured to me so it was intresting to see.
Honestly every scene of them just playing their instruments and witnessing them improve made me smile. In particular, the scene where they were clapping to the beat of the traffic light jingle, and then clapping to the beat of random things. That made me happy.

Some of the scenes were directed in ways I thought were neat with the shot composition and transitions. The film was decently funny, it got a few nostril exhales from me. Music was great and because it takes place in the japanese countryside my brain instantly finds the vibe somehat nostalgic, for completely nonsensical reasons.
Last part of the film is has super convenient coincidence occur but it barely bothered me because seeing them play on stage made me happy, filled me with joy and whimsy. Yeah. Just a really good film that makes me happy. Also the two guitar girls' fashion sense goes hard.
